Our Story
Where We Come From
JT Anderson Transport has been part of the Yorkshire haulage landscape for over 70 years. The business was founded in 1955 by Joseph Thomas Anderson - known to everyone as Joe - who started out from Gateforth in North Yorkshire with a single lorry and a clear idea of what good service looked like.
Joe built the business the old-fashioned way. He turned up when he said he would, charged fairly for the work, and made sure the job was done right before he left a site. Word spread. The fleet grew. The Anderson name became a reliable fixture for construction companies, farmers, and industrial businesses across the county.
The business passed through the family, each generation learning the trade properly before taking on more responsibility. Today, the third generation runs the operation from the same base at Highfield House, Hillam Road, Gateforth - the same address Joe worked from all those years ago.
The equipment is newer. The crane capacities are larger. The fleet now spans three vehicle classes from 26-tonne 6-wheelers up to 44-tonne drawbar combinations with 66tm crane capability. But the operating principles are exactly the same as they were in 1955 - do the job properly, treat people fairly, and be someone your customers can depend on.
